The House of Representatives approved Jim Leach’s bill HR 556 “Unlawful Internet Funding Prohibition Act” that will allow law-enforcement authorities to get a court order prohibiting money transfers to internet sites engaged in gambling.

The Judiciary Committee has passed an amended version of the Leach I-gaming bill. Leach’s bill, HR 21, would ban online gambling merchants from accepting payment in the form of credit card transactions or other bank instruments from Americans for any illegal online gambling transactions.

The U.S. House of Representatives passed HR 2143, the Unlawful Internet Gambling Funding Prohibition Act. The bill makes it illegal to use credit cards, wire transfers and other banking instruments to fund Internet gambling activities.
